Club Captain's Charity Day 2025

Club Captain's Charity Day- Thursday 18th September

Our Club Captain Neil Hutchinson invites you to join in the fun at his Club Captain's Charity Day, on Thursday 18th September. This event will be supporting our Captain's Charity YES, Colchester and Tendring Youth Enquiry Service, supporting 11-25 year olds across North East Essex. The day will start at 09:00am in the Clubhouse with Coffee & Bacon Rolls, teeing off from 09:58 for a Single Stableford Competition. This will be followed by a two course dinner. The cost will be £35.00 for Members, £45.00 for Guests. There will be prizes for nearest the pins, and a prize for a 4 Ball Better Ball Team Score. If you would like to take part please enter your name on the start sheet, which can be found on the main noticeboard in the foyer. Neil looks forward to seeing you all there.

The Annual Swindle Cup, dinner & presentation night was held on Saturday at Clacton Golf Club. Sponsored by Thompson Smith & Puxon, a field of over 80 competitors fought for The Ted Hill Swindle Cup, as well as the Carol Finch Team Award Cup.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       1st Pete Smith 40 Pts, 2nd Bob Davidson 39 Pts (O/C B9, 23Pts) 3rd Phillip Allerton 39 Pts (O/C B9, 20Pts) The Carol Finch Team Award Cup went to Phillip Allerton, Bob Davidson, Steve James & Kevin Hill with a winning score of 109 Pts 2nd Eddie Devaux, Gary Dymond, James Morris & Gary Roberts with 106Pts                                                                                                                                                                                                         The Swindle Committee, Phillip Allerton, Steve James & Kevin Hill thanked Club Captain Neil Hutchingson for presenting the trophies, also Swindle sponsors, Thompson Smith & Puxon and all Swindlers for their continued support and hoped they enjoyed the evening with music from Soul D Out. There was special thanks to Phillip Allerton & Steve James who are standing down from the Swindle Committee. Kevin Hill was pleased to announce Simon Bates, David Caley & Dean Wiggins who are to take over The Swindle.

The Canny Ryall Tankard (ladies) was won by Ann Tyler Nett 70, second Hoon Locke Nett 71, third Anna Cowen Nett 73.

The Junior Carr Sheild was won by Charlie Heffer 38pts, Max Heffer second, 36pts, third Louie Brewer 35pts on countback from Coco Locke
Last Tuesday the ladies played for the Veterans Cup (60+), Sue Gurry had a great win with 43pts on countback from Janine Wyman, Michelle Day was third 37pts on countback from Sheila Coleman. The ‘Rest’ winners were Liz Strutt 36pts on C/B from Anna Cowen, Emma Murphy third 35 pts.
Last week the Mid-Week Mixed Medal was won by Keelan Stanton Nett 73 on C/B from Steve Yates, third Craig Bruce Nett 75 on C/B from Craig Green & Bill Smart.

On Monday the Seniors had a good win against Maldon at home 4 ½ - 3 ½ taking the overall win to Clacton to 9 ½ - 6 1/2 . The rest of the Seniors played their weekly stableford challenge, Richard Weeks 31pts, second Steve Chignell on C/B, third Stanley Justice 30pts on C/B from Brian Williams, Simon Thomas, Mick Patey, Derek Fuller & Ray Humphreys.
