Andy Duffin has won the Essex Seniors Championship for the second consecutive year with a gross score of 72+74=146. Andy was perhaps the pre-tournament favourite having featured at the top end of the leaderboard in the English Seniors Amateur recently. In intense heat and on a fast and testing Chelmsford course Andy finished day one a shot behind Ian Moore from Romford. Despite the efforts of his fellow competitors on day two, Andy’s talent and experience secured him a back to back win by 1 shot overall.

The ladies Harris Bowl team travelled to West Essex on the hottest day of the year to play their second match of the league. The undulating course proved a challenge for the team players Anna Cowen, Sonja Strutt (Team Captain), Fiona Cope, Jeanette Shea & Emma Murphy and in scorching temperatures they lost 1-4.

The ladies Medal 4 & Golf Foundation Brooch was won by Brenda Lord last Tuesday with a score of 98-26=72 on countback from Maxine Trill who was second 109-37=72 & Tania Fuller third 88-16=72.

The men played the Challenge Bowl on Saturday against Braintree and had a successful 4 ½ - 3 ½ win.
The annual Starling Salver, men v the ladies, match was held on Sunday. The format is 4BBB matchplay. It was very well supported and the men won 5 ½ - 3 ½.

Also on Sunday was a Texas Scramble Fun Competition won by James Law, Leigh Gentry, Kye Simpson & Craig Bates with a gross team score of 60-9=51. They beat Tony Chandler, John Markham, Lee Pryor & Darren Scott on countback.

The June midweek medal was won by Leslie Hall 85-13=72. Second was Stafford Whiston 94-21=73 & third Mark Hulstrom 84-10=74.
Winner of the Juniors Vertigen Trophy was Max Heffer with 39 stableford points. In second place was Charlie Heffer with 36 points and third Hugo Campbell with 35 points.

The inaugural Clacton Seniors Past Captains Competition was played on Thursday. This was won by John Kemp with a winning score of 38pts, playing off 22.

Monday’s competition was the Seniors Summer Texas Scramble. The winning team was Tony Chandler, Gerry Sherriff, Derek Fuller & Stanley Justice, with a nett score of 50, playing off a team handicap of 10.
