Clacton on Sea Golf Club
Newspaper Report for Thursday  12th February

The ongoing wet weather has meant that Clacton golf course has either been closed completely or players only allowed to use carry bags on a restricted course. However, it is a new year and the Senior section held their AGM last Monday. Geoff Haslam thanked his committee and the Seniors for supporting him throughout his year. He has raised in excess of £3000 for Prostate Cancer Research though fund-raising events. They have approx. 120 members that play regularly on a Monday and in other competitions with the Ladies section and against local clubs and throughout the year, they would welcome more members to join them on Monday mornings. The Seniors teams had a good winning year with 14 wins, 1 draw and 7 losses. Geoff then introduced the 2026 Senior Captain, Paul Tubbs and Vice-Captain Craig Day.

The Ladies section held their AGM last Tuesday, the 2025 Captain, Jackie Bright thanked the ladies for all their support during her very busy year with a growing section that saw some successes for our Bronze and Harris teams and also individual County Seniors Ladies competition successes. The highlight of her year was being part of the Boudica Bowl team, playing at Braintree with the Club Captain, Neil Hutchinson, and winning by one point to bring the Bowl back to Clacton for a second year. Her charity was the Clacton Food Bank, £2500 was raised through the lady’s section along with weekly donations of tins and dried goods for the local charity. Jackie introduced our Captain for 2026, Emma Cole and her Vice-Captain Diana Maddox.
