Clacton on Sea Golf Club
Newspaper Report for Thursday 13th Nov
Clacton Golf Club now has a measured course from the Blue Tees, this is a shorter course for anyone who feels unable to play from the reds or yellow tees, it also means the can keep their handicap live, it is also a good starting point for anyone learning to play. The Ladies played a qualifying round from the Blue Tees last week which caused some to rethink their usual club selection on the shorter course. Sonja Strutt played a great round and came in to win with 40pts, Sue Martin second with 39pts and Susan Wiggins third with 37pts.
Saturday Top Dogs week 4 was a Medal round, J Ranson & J Crawley came first Nett 63, six pairs vied for second place on Nett 65, but S James & D Purl took the place on countback from P Wright & M Wright.
The Juniors had a good entry for the O’Boyle Charity Shield (Par/Bogey), George Feighery came first with +3, Coco Locke second 0 on countback from Charlei Beasley & Charlie Heffer.
Monday Seniors were playing their November Stableford, despite the rain and windy conditions there were some decent scores at the top. Peter Smith came first with 38pts, Stephen Guilfoyle second 37 pts and Robert Gage 36pts on countback from Derek Fuller and Tony Chandler. The Seniors held a charity ‘Race Night’ on Friday, a very enjoyable friendly evening with over £500 raised for Prostate Cancer Research.
